Miniatures

I started collecting miniatures when I got the Heroquest game for my birthday. This will remain one of the best tabletop game for kids always. I still have many of the original miniatures. I also got the expansions which added undead and more greenskins I think (like Fimirs).

Heroquest - High Adventure in a World of Magic

After that, I started getting some miniatures for Dungeon and Dragons and for the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay game. I also had model jets and helicopters and even 1 tank. All were in plastic to be glued and assembled. That reinforced my skills to assemble and then paint a variety of miniatures. I also started painting some of the Heroquest models and some of my D&D minis.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Then, around 1993, I heard about the Warhammer Fantasy Battles game. I borrowed a White Dwarf magazine and fell in love with the scenery, the hills and trees and the beautiful armies on display. I also borrowed the High Elf book from a friend and fell in love with those miniatures. They had something classic about them, a proud and disciplined army fighting for order and justice and good. So I bought my first 2 archers and a ballista for about 10$. That was 1993 dollars so it was still expensive but nothing like the price you would pay today to get the same.

So I continued to purchase many more pieces to my army. Over time, I bought nearly every unit Games-Workshop released for the High Elves and since I also started to program Warhammer in 2003, I decided to buy every army book. 😁

Heavy Gear - DP9

I also bought some of Dream Pod 9's Heavy Gear Southern militia miniatures. They are excellent and look great I think. See my post about them here.
